Keeping up with Ciara’s Senior Infants

May 5, 2026

Term 2 in Senior Infants was full of exciting learning, creativity, and hands-on experiences across all areas of the curriculum. In Maths, we explored the concept of halves. The children engaged in practical activities which supported their understanding of how objects and shapes can be shared equally. We also explored the 10-frame, working on combining numbers, and used iPads to complete a range of interactive Maths activities, which further supported our counting skills in an engaging and enjoyable way.

In Music, we had a wonderful time making music and exploring different instruments. The children enjoyed experimenting with sounds, rhythms, and beats, and we worked together to create our own classroom music.

As part of integrated free play and SESE, we learned all about farm animals. The children enjoyed discussing different animals, their homes, and the sounds they make. As a class, we made our own butter, which was a great way to see how food is made.

This month, in Science, the children learned all about how plants grow. We worked together to plant peas, which we will later transfer to our school garden. The children showed great care and excitement as they helped prepare and plant the seeds, and we are looking forward to watching them grow over the next few weeks.

It has been a very busy and enjoyable term in Senior Infants, and the children should be very proud of all their hard work and learning.
