Active Schools

Ashbourne ETNS is part of Ireland’s Active Schools initiative. It is a wonderful programme that is designed to encourage staff and students to be more active, more often! We were awarded our Active School Flag in 2018. Our school has a fantastic Active Committee made up of 20 children from 2nd – 6th Class and staff members. The Active Committee Members help look after the PE equipment in our school, help with the running of Active Week and Walk on Wednesdays. Children from 2nd – 6th Class keep track of any active activities their class engage with during the week, these activities may include movement breaks, daily mile and PE lessons.We are working on implementing a variety of movement and brain breaks into our school day as they are so beneficial to children’s learning.
