PTA
A PTA or Parent Teacher Association is made up of a Committee of volunteers, elected by the parent body every year. The Committee must have a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer to function. At Ashbourne ETNS, we also have Class Representatives and a Teacher Representative.
What Do We Do?
The PTA brings the parent and school population together to strengthen and build our community. We also fundraise for equipment and supports that are not covered by the school’s budget.
You can help by simply attending a meeting. These are held in the school hall every couple of months, usually in the evening.
You can also volunteer your time to help plan, organise or help at a specific event.
Examples of Events
- Non-fundraising: Dress Up Disco, Coffee mornings, St. Patrick’s Day Craft Workshop.
- Fundraising: Defibrillator, a life-saving piece of equipment, IT Upgrades, needed during Covid-19 pandemic closures, Astro- Turf Pitch, Sports Equipment, Outdoor Classroom Furniture, Sound System Upgrades, Subsidised buses, graduation jumpers and activities for both autism classes.
Why Join?
Benefits include building relationships with school staff and other parents, getting to know the wider school community and of course making a difference for the children who attend our school. You can also improve current skills and learn new ones.
Attending PTA meetings gives you an opportunity to have your opinions and ideas heard.
