Green Schools
Some Initiatives We Are Undertaking to Achieve Our Flag
Previously, our school has successfully achieved a Green Flag under the themes of Litter and Waste, Energy, and Water. We continue to promote these flags in our daily school life, by ensuring lights and taps are turned off when not being used, and that paper and plastic is recycled. We are proud to be a waste-free school and any waste from lunches is brought home in lunchboxes. We also have a water pledge displayed on our Green Schools board – it is:
Saving water is so cool, please do it, don’t be cruel.
Turn off the tap in the sink when washing your hands or taking a drink.
We only have a bit to share, with all living things so be aware.
Use watering cans, have a shower, but don’t have it for an hour!
Saving water is the best, we do it here at Ashbourne ETNS!
Our Committee includes two children from each class level in our school. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication these children put into the Green Schools Committee, and have no doubt that with their help, our school will successfully achieve the Green Flag for Travel!
