Science Week 2025

Nov 20, 2025

Here at Ashbourne ETNS we took part in Science Week from the 10th to the 14th of November – and we had a blast! Each class carried out daily experiments, where they explored things like static electricity, Galileo’s Falling Objects Experiment, making rollercoasters, growing cress seeds, invisible ink and lots more!

We were visited by a number of speakers during the week. The junior classes were lucky to learn from the amazing Zookeeper Kenneth Mackey from Dublin Zoo. 2nd and 3rd classes learned about birds from Ornithologist John Sherry. 3rd and 4th classes were visited by a team at Drogheda Labs , and 5th and 6th had a visit from Microbiologists Maria Dyas and her colleagues.

The classes challenged their brains with Science Quizzes and Escape Rooms. At the end of the week, some of our very own scientists at Ashbourne ETNS demonstrated some super cool experiments in our Science Fair!

We had an amazing Science Week, and can’t wait to see what the children bring to the future of science!
